THE CASUAL FIASCO
March 2006
Part rock and part reggae-flecked jam pop, The Casual Fiasco has a sound that most fans can't seem to categorize. Transmitting a vibe that owes as much to Paul Simon and James Taylor as it does to heroes like the Talking Heads, the Police , Dispatch and the Allman Brothers, TCF combines quirky lyrics and 3 part harmonies with a roots-rock flavor to create a sound that is entirely their own. The band’s groove-based sound, dynamic changes and positive energy can’t help but affect anyone with earshot. The Burlington, VT quartet hit the road relentlessly after their early 05 residency at hometown landmark Nectar's, logging 100+ dates at schools and nightclubs across the Northeast in less than 8 months. The Casual Fiasco is currently on their most extended tour to date, taking them from Maine to Florida over the course of 6 months.
“The Casual Fiasco's upbeat, ska-infused rock is designed to put a smile on your face. Combining the open-ended vibe of groove music with the solid hooks of pop, the Burlington-based band bridges the gap between Sublime and Paul Simon. Throw in a little exploratory jamming and you've got a recipe for laid-back good times.” Seven Days VT
The Fiasco has shared the stage with acts as diverse as Toots and the Maytals, North Mississippi Allstars, the Slip, Tea Leaf Green, Addison Groove Project, Cat Empire, State Radio and Zox, and have recently played to capacity crowds at regional hotspots like the Knitting Factory(NYC), the Middle East (MA) and Higher Ground (VT). TCF is becoming a northeast college favorite, having played at schools that include Princeton, Champlain College, Hobart William-Smith, St. Lawrence, Union College, Concord College, University of Hartford, Cornell and many more.
