WAITING FOR A MIRACLE
March 2008
In early 2005, two seasoned musicians by the names of Matt Barron and Joe Villemaire, both possessing substantial musical resumes, including Burlington legends “Drowningman”, found something within each other’s direction and playing ability, and knew something needed to happen; something bigger than what either of them had done previously. The two began composing some preliminary tracks to manifest the concept of what they envisioned the project to sound like. As it came into fruition, it was evident that the lineup would need to be completed by a group of sound and fitting musicians, not only capable of delivering in a playing aspect, but to form a tightly knit family, inside and out of the practice room. This was realized in vocalist Zak Ballard, bassist Ben Fine, and guitarist Chris Parmelee, all of whom hail from upstate New York. A diverse group that comes together with undeniable chemistry.
As it was named, “Waiting For A Miracle” broke out into the Burlington music scene playing clubs such as Higher Ground, and immediately began traveling to make a name in surrounding areas. The band’s name, at a moment’s thought can sound incidental and randomly chosen, but holds a deep literal meaning in many ways. The members, all of which have been adamantly playing in bands for years and trying feverishly to make something of it, come together in WFAM in a way impossible with anyone else. Driven by a love for timeless music of all eras, an affinity for the legacy of the Kennedy White House, strong opinions to convey for a bettering of American society, and nothing but the highest resolve for advancements in the future. It is an understatement to say that Waiting For A Miracle has no intention of slowing down.
After recording a self-titled full length debut with renowned Unearth guitarist, Ken Susi, the group found a partnership in Hotfoot Records, a label out of Long Island, who released the album and made it accessible to buyers. The record, possessing evidently solid songwriting and production value, plus artwork by Pete Chilton of hardcore legends, “Bane”, gave Miracle its first step into the industry; receiving reviews in various music magazines and websites. The band quickly gathered a local fan base and proceeded to expand its reach by touring the east coast and Midwest, amongst the likes of bands such as Trivium, The Forecast, Limbeck, A Kiss For Jersey, and Blameshift. The band captivates listeners via many factors; catchy pop vocal hooks, undeniable rhythmic grooves delivered by bass and drum lock-up, and head-spinning cooperative dual guitar layering. The group’s always visually stimulating live presence, extraneous affability to fans and followers, and general love of good times makes this outfit hard to not enjoy.
As the new year kicks off, Waiting For A Miracle has a full plate. With an east coast tour, starting at Higher Ground on March 20th in Burlington, a Canadian tour and North East Run in the works for May and June, as well as an innovative slew of songs assembled for a new album that will demonstrate great growth and advancement for the band, this is a group to immediately get into if you are not already a fan. Get out and experience Waiting For A Miracle, we know you’ve been waiting for one too
