JENNIFER HARTSWICK

Jennifer Hartswick is one of the most refreshing new voices of the twenty first century. A consummate performer, she thrills audiences as a vocalist, trumpeter, composer, lyricist and educator. She is equally at home singing soul, funk, pop and R&B, but her passion without question is jazz.

Born in Vermont into a musical family, Jennifer began playing at the age of 4. First piano, then clarinet, sax, flute, trombone, tuba and finally trumpet. In her early teens she became infatuated with the sounds of Oscar Peterson, Art Tatum, Clifford Brown and Ella Fitzgerald. After a stint living on the upper west side of Manhattan, she attended the Hartt School of Music where she studied the intricacies of the jazz idiom with Nat Reeves, Steve Davis, Jackie McLean and many other highly prominent jazz artists.

At the age of 20 Jennifer was afforded the opportunity to join Trey Anastasio’s new band, having already recorded on Story of the Ghost (Phish, 1998) and One Man’s Trash (Trey Anastasio, 1998). She embraced the idea with open arms and began touring with him in 2001. In her seven years of touring, she has shared the stage and studio with such legends as Carlos Santana, Dave Matthews, The Rolling Stones and Herbie Hancock to name a few.

In 2003 Jennifer released her own debut album; a soulful, horn laden party entitled Fuse. “I always want an album to sound fresh” says Hartswick. “It’s amazing to see what happens when you put great musicians in a room together with no boundaries.” And that’s exactly what she has done again. Jennifer has gone back into the studio with some of her favorite musicians to record an album very true to her heart. She revisits her roots with this release, recording some of her most beloved jazz standards including With Every Breath I Take, Nature Boy, Gentle Rain, and the haunting original composition, You Own Me. “True” will be released in the fall of 2007.

Aram Bedrosian

2007 has been a breakthrough year for Burlington-born bassist Aram Bedrosian. With the release of a self-titled debut album recorded entirely with one bass guitar, he has stepped into whole new light. Thanks to a balance of melody and technique, he has developed a unique instrumental voice and his funk-driven, classically flavored solo compositions have earned him a growing international fan-base comprised of musicians and non-musicians alike.

"Listening to this album, you hear Bedrosian make the transformation from a great bassist to a technical virtuoso....It's remarkable work." --State of Mind Magazine

In addition to being a soloist, Aram has performed with a range of notable artists. This year he has played with Jen Hartswick, well known for her work in the Trey Anastasio band and he has also toured with the Gordon Stone. His work on Gordon's album, "Rhymes with Orange", helped earn it "Best VT Instrumental Album of 2005"-The Times Argus. He is currently recording and performing with the up-and-coming rock/country group Rumble Doll who just signed a distribution deal in Nashville for their debut, "Another Fine Undefined Life". Other groups he has worked with include The Turkey Bouillon Mafia, Avi & Celia, Aaron Flinn and more.

Aram has his own bass teaching studio in Burlington and is also a former VT Guitar Summit winner. His unique playing style has attracted students from all over the world via an internet teaching site where he teaches side-by-side with bassists Stu Hamm (Steve Via) and Kai Eckhardt (Al Di Meola).
