Like a secret that can be kept no longer, the elusive & influential Souled American emerge for a rare appearance to promote SANCTIONS, their first record in thirty years. The band began in Chicago in 1986, hybridizing traditional roots music with roll & roll to pioneer a style later celebrated as “alternative country.” Acclaimed by Jeff Tweedy, The Jayhawks, John Darnielle, and Counting Crows, Souled American recorded 64 songs between 1988 and 1996, a legendary body of work that has been unavailable for decades and is only now receiving the attention it has long deserved.

“For years, only a few people could say they’d seen Souled American. Last year they emerged from long seclusion and entranced a select few audiences with a type of music that only they play: that only they ~can~ play. The chance to see them do what only they can do should not be missed by anyone who cherishes the true alchemy of music.”
– John Darnielle (Mountain Goats)
