Phantom Suns is a rock and roll band from Burlington, VT. The name is a synonym for “sun dogs,” an atmospheric phenomena in which the sun appears to be flanked by smaller suns on either side. This cryptic reference to a scientific anomaly is a recurring theme within the band.
Songwriter-guitarist-vocalist Seth Gundersen plays off-kilter riffs while delivering powerful, melodic vocals. Chris Mathieu pummels the drums with precision and ferocity. Chris Knauer’s basslines provide a grooving foundation. Lead guitarist Tristan Baribeau is unhinged, sometimes chugging along with the rhythm and sometimes soaring above the din with euphonic leads.
Phantom Suns released their debut album, Caldera, in 2018 to favorable reviews. The band is nearing completion on their second album.
