Fusing the gritty energy of NYC subways with inimitable style, Thundersmack promises a musical experience that is as infectious as it is unforgettable.

The Maestros

Leo P, the band’s Baritone Saxophone and Clarinet aficionado, is a showman to the core. His captivating dance moves light up the stage, serving as a visual crescendo to his mind-bending musical prowess. He is best known for his BBC Prom’s performance at Royal Albert Hall and his band Too Many Zooz’s collaboration with Beyoncé at the CMAs. His videos have been viewed millions of times throughout various platforms including YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok. Leo brings a distinctive flair that turns any performance into an awe-inspiring spectacle.

Michael Wilbur is a multi-instrumentalist virtuoso, primarily on tenor and bass saxophones. Best known as a founding member of the band Moon Hooch, Michael has amassed a viral following on social media for his electrifying and unique spin on bass saxophone mixed with hiphop/trap beats. He has toured the world and has been featured with Moon Hooch on NPR’s Tiny Desk Concert as well as many other notable global publications such as BBC, Thrasher, The New Yorker, The Guardian and more.

The Sound

Thundersmack delivers a sound that’s gritty yet fun, both energetic and motivating. With a repertoire designed to make you dance until you drop, the band injects each performance with a dose of high-octane musical adrenaline. Their synergy on stage is palpable, creating a live experience that’s nothing short of magnetic.

The Essence

Born from the underground spirit of Moon Hooch and Too Many Zooz, Thundersmack is a culmination of Michael and Leo’s unique talents and artistic visions. They both share an unquenchable thirst for the stage, and when they combine their musical gifts, the result is a distinctive blend of contagious rhythm, passionate artistry, and unparalleled entertainment.

Whether you’re a first-time listener or a long-time fan, Thundersmack offers an intoxicating musical journey that is as inspiring as it is invigorating.

Jackson Whalan is a recording artist and producer from Western Massachusetts who creates music to uplift and inspire listeners worldwide. He is known for his high-impact rapping, music production, and live performance. Recent collaborations include working with Hip Hop legend KRS-One and touring throughout the United States as direct support for the band Moon Hooch. He has been consistently releasing music, including LPs, EPs, singles, and features, and his songs have gotten placements in All American (Netflix), Xfinity, Reebok, Champs, and more.
Jackson was born and raised in Berkshire County, on the western edge of Massachusetts. There were very few examples of hip-hop artists from his rural hometown, but the music made its way into his life when he found CDs that belonged to his older brother. Inspired at age 11 by artists like De La Soul, The Fugees, Eminem, and Nas, Jackson forged a path not previously traveled by anyone from The Berkshires.

When Jackson discovered the power of hip-hop, things were turbulent at home, at school, and in the world. He was waking up to issues of race, class, politics, human rights, and climate change. His music became the vehicle for addressing injustice and inspiring people to make a difference.

Jackson’s live show is full of thought-provoking songs, beats, and live instrumentation. The highlight is often when Jackson freestyle-raps topics from the crowd, which makes for an unforgettable experience.
