Another night of high highs, and low lows returns to Higher Ground on May 10, 2024! Curated and headlined by country-tinged folk rockersTroy Millette and the Fire Below, “Up From Below” melds comedy and music by showcasing some of the region’s most celebrated acts.

Troy Millette & the Fire Below were recently named Vermont’s “Best Folk Group” by Seven Days magazine, and have played extensively across New England with acclaimed acts such as Counting Crows, Grace Potter, Rick Springfield, Bowling for Soup, and more. Their unique blend of heartfelt lyricism and driving melodies have earned them comparisons to the likes of Jason Isbell and Kip Moore. The group is currently recording their debut LP, with a cover of Taylor Swift’s “All Too Well” now streaming wherever music is stolen.

Mark Daly’s popular synth-laden pop rock outfit Madaila and baroque indie acoustic favorites Cricket Blue (Laura Heaberlin and Taylor Smith) are also set to perform.

“Up From Below” is proud to feature four local comics from Vermont’s bountiful stand-up scene including Talk Show with Max Higgins and Comedy Wolf’s Max Higgins, as well as Vermont Comedy Club regulars and Vermont’s Funniest Comedian Contest finalists: Alex Duval, Marlon Fisher, and Alex St. Louis.

Rounding out this year’s line-up is satirist and social media star Jonny Wanzer, whose fresh, honest takes on social commentary have amassed hundreds of thousands of views across online platforms.
